At DenverSpine, each surgeon works closely with physician assistants (PAs), medical assistants (MAs), spine-specialized physical therapists (PTs) and physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists (PMRs) to form an expert, multi-faceted team that delivers comprehensive quality care to patients.

Our PAs and MAs ensure that the evaluation and treatment of our spine patients is efficient, appropriate and timely—all the way from the initial diagnosis to post-surgical, follow-up care.

DenverSpine physician assistants are nationally certified. The PA assists in the timely evaluation and treatment of the patient. They can prescribe medications, evaluate patients in the clinic, order tests, answer questions and conduct evaluations. The PA will also assist the surgeon in the operating room.

Our medical assistants (MAs) assist both the PAs and the physicians. They help with patient care in the office setting. This can include scheduling surgeries, ordering tests, organizing diagnostic studies and interacting with insurance carriers, referring offices and therapists. In addition to helping with clinical evaluation, MAs assist in a broad range of essential office functions.

Physical therapists at DenverSpine work with the physicians to treat patients when surgery is not an option. These PTs have advanced training in spinal techniques and are successful at helping patients achieve activity and motion through customized exercises.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) physicians, or physiatrists, at DenverSpine are also often effective at enabling back and neck pain sufferers to return to activity while avoiding surgery. These specialists specialize in spine care and utilize exercise and movement to bridge to recovery.

Because DenverSpine specialists consult regarding each individual case, the most appropriate back and neck pain treatment plan is outlined for every patient.
