New study: Denver Spine Physicians Begin Enrollment in United States Stem Cell Therapy Study DenverSpine today announced that it has enrolled its first patient in a nationwide FDA- cleared adult stem cell study testing novel treatment for chronic low back pain. The study will test the use of Mesenchymal Precursor Cells (MPCs) – adult stem cells derived from bone marrow that will be directly injected into the lumbar disc. The minimally invasive procedure may offer an alternative to back surgery for eligible patients with chronic pain from degenerative discs. Click here to read more about this Research Study. New study: Lumbar disc herniation treated with physical therapy or epidural steroid injections We are very pleased to announce our multicenter and multidisciplinary, non-surgical RESEARCH STUDY, which will look at the effectiveness of physical therapy vs epidural (transforaminal) corticosteroid injections in the treatment of acute and subacute lumbar disc herniation with radiculopathy. This study includes anyone with a disc herniation at L4-5 or L5-S1, with radiculopathy (predominantly L5 or S1 signs or symptoms), that is 8 weeks of age or less. There are multiple participating investigators, and PT and injection facilities, in the greater Denver area in order to make this study as convenient as possible for patients. Subjects will be paid for their participation. We will have patients return to their primary treating practitioners or surgeons if additional medical care or surgery is required.
